One With Everything

Did you hear about the Zen monk who ordered a pizza?
He asked the pizza guy to “make him one with everything.”
According to a study from Emory University School of Medicine, people who practice zen meditation–sometimes called zazen–can edit out distractions better than folks who don’t meditate.
Researchers examined blood flow in the brain when the subjects were interupted by stimuli that was meant to imitate distractive thoughts. Meditators can deal with the interuption and return to the task at hand.
This study also suggest that meditation can help people manage distractive thoughts. Improved productivity would be one benefit and a limit of obsessive negative thinking would be another, I’d bet.
If technology continues to improve at an exponential rate, it’s interesting to speculate whether human consciousness will keep up. If it does, will the amazing properties of the mind be unleashed?
These are some amazing thoughts.
