Automated Trading is Illegal

April 7th, 2009

This is one of the responses we have received from people when we share the idea of Automated Trading. The interesting thing is that these people have no idea about Automated Trading, and are usually clueless about investing as well. They are the least qualified to tell us whether it is legal or not.

I think any time people tell you that something is illegal or impossible, you’re on the right track. Of course, I am not suggesting doing something illegal. Breaking the law is just silly, and should not be done. The interesting thing is that many people think some things are illegal when they are perfectly legal.

Automated Trading is fascinating because people think it is either illegal or impossible. In America it’s perfectly legal, so don’t worry about that. Most people have never heard of it, so they assume that it’s impossible. There are a million things that were once thought impossible, yet today are everyday occurrences.

Perhaps people think that Automated Trading is illegal because they think that you’re supposed to work hard for money. I think working hard is a good habit to have. And, working hard to get rich is not a very good strategy. Many people such as lawyers work very hard and long hours. But they only get paid for the time that they put in. As soon as they stop working, so does their income.

The effective way to get rich is to create or purchase assets that provide passive income. This means that we get paid even if we spend a very small amount of our time working. Perhaps many people think that getting paid without working is illegal as well.
