The 4-Hour Workweek is Back

December 19th, 2009

I just got Tim Ferriss’ The 4-Hour Workweek, Expanded and Updated version. I was a huge fan of the original version and read it twice. Now I am reading the new version and can honestly say that it is awesome!

4 hour work week expanded updated by Tm Ferris

What is so great about this book anyway? How has Tim been able to go from unknown to super successful overnight?

I have discovered that one of the really great things about the book is that it is so inspiring. When we read about the successes that other people have had, it makes it so easy for us to succeed too. The book has had a powerful impact on both myself and Matt.

One of the clear results is the release of our eBook, The Wealth Singularity. Using many of Tim’s strategies, we were able to combine our disparate knowledge and create something that will hopefully powerfully affect millions of lives.

Another wonderful thing about The 4-Hour Work Week is that it questions so many assumptions that millions of people never question throughout their whole lives! Questions like:

  • Do I really have to have a boring 9-5 cubicle hell job to pay the rent?
  • Is it such a good idea to waste my whole life working and only stop when I am too old and decrepit to enjoy retirement?

These are questions that are life altering, if we would only get off the hamster wheel long enough to think about them.

I think the other powerful asset that Tim uses in his book is the ability to communicate in a fun, interesting and informative way. The tone of the book is so pleasant and entertaining. In the preface, he says that he wrote the book for his two friends who are wasting away at a job. Perhaps that is why his voice comes across as so sincere and helpful.

I have met so many people who have never heard of The 4-Hour Work Week. I wish everyone would read it and try out some of the strategies. I think it would result in a lot less wasted time and a lot more fulfilling lives.

You got the jump on me for this one! I loved the first but wasn’t sure if I sure plunk down the change for the new one, does it really have enough new content to be different from the first edition? I also like your intro for the Wealth Singularity, but I haven’t haven’t bought yet (I have commitment issues, well, maybe I’m just cheap).
