Now I am reading a new book that is pretty interesting, Bursts
by Albert-Laszlo Barabasi. It’s about the hidden patterns in life, and how they express themselves in everything that we do. I think that many people feel like we understand ourselves, but I’ll bet that this book sheds light about what happens inside our mind.

I just started reading it, but I already found some pretty and useful information. He talks about the mystery of why pollen moves around randomly when placed in a dish of water. Around 1900 this was a big mystery, because the idea of the atom was just a theory, and people didn’t know what force could move a tiny object suspended in water.
What does this have to do with our lives?

Unless you lived with the Unabomber during the 1990s, you have had a taste of disruptive technology. The internet has changed how we do business, how we communicate, how we gather news and information and even how we listen to music.
Business have been created overnight. (We had a word for Twitter back before the web–it was called graffiti.
And business have gone bankrupt over night.
This isn’t anything new. With each new round of technology, we experience disruptions. Railroad, the telephone, the telegraph, the printing press, the wheel, fire–they’ve all changed our lives. But, notice I said that we have experienced a “taste” of disruption.
The next round of technology won’t change our lives; it will change life.

Dr. Frankenstein was in the wrong business.
While Craig Venter can now lay claim to being the first person to create artificial life, he’s not interested in bolting together a monster. He’s looking to make monster money.
Last week, Venter announced that he had created life using manmade DNA. It’s often referred to as synthetic life.
This was a 15 year mission for Venter.
The announcement is stunning. What the technology could lead to is stunning in the trillion dollar level.

Memes are thoughts and ideas that are spread through mass consciousness. And thoughts can turn into things.
Memes sound pretty modern, pretty techy. But, memes are nothing new. Since we discovered how to communicate with each other, we learned to spread opinions and ideas.
One consistent meme in mankind that life is hard. Another meme is that making and saving money is difficult.
I noticed that there are people who are spreading other memes. Life and wealth can be “hacked.” You can enter these old paradigms and shake things up a bit. I’d like to pass on some of the best examples of the life-and-wealth-is-easy meme in this edition of Weekly Wisdom.

Many people think that Automated Trading could be the answer to all of their financial problems. We are big believers in the technology, and think that it will revolutionize the world. And, we also believe that even if it solves people’s financial problems, that is not enough. Because solving problems alone is not a solution to life; it is merely a means to finding our own life’s purpose.
Most people hate their problems. They spend all day thinking about them and wishing that they were gone. The funny (?) thing about problems is that as soon as we solve a problem, it is replaced by another problem.
What am I talking about?

Financial freedom is not about money.
OK. It is about money, but it’s about a lot more than just money; financial freedom is about how you view life.
According to experts on psychology and even some quantum physicists, there’s a tool available to all that can improve our ability to actualize financial freedom.
It’s called “visualization” and it means that the way you see things inside your mind, eventually translates to real world results. Some people say even that model isn’t quite what’s happening. They say that consciousness–your mind with a big, capital, bold M–is the real world and that the world of appearances is just a shadow.
This may get a little too metaphysical for you, but hang with me because I’ll try to keep it real. Even if you don’t believe the whole mind-over-matter mumbo jumbo, there’s still real, scientific benefits of creating a visualization practice.
Sports psychologists practice it. Traders have used it. Actors and actresses make it part of their daily routine.
Now, we’re going to take it to the next level.

A recent front-page story in the Investor’s Business Daily shows just how far Singularity technology is penetrating mainstream life.
And synthetic biology, just one field that’s adding fuel to the accelerating future, is poised to penetrate the mysteries of biological life even more deeply.
With the big money of Roche, BP, and Microsoft lining up behind them, Synbio researchers are investigating how DNA sequences can be reprogrammed. Basically, synbio can create new life forms and those new forms can be put to work for a myriad of uses.
Some of the predictions are mind-blowing.

If you’ve seen some of the latest animated movies, you realize that it’s getting harder and harder to tell the difference between real people and cartoons. (In my own life, I have trouble some real people turn out to be cartoons. ha. ha.)
Well. You haven’t seen anything yet. New modeling technology makes it almost impossible to tell the difference between a real person and an animated model.
According to this article, a California company called, Image Metrics, the firm that does graphics for the Grand Theft Auto game, started with a video of an employee talking. The animated movements were then recreated movement by movement.
The finished product is a video of “Emily.” You can check out the video here and watch reality morph with technology before your eyes.
