Wisdom is often hidden from us.
It’s not a conspiracy. No government agency is charged with hiding this type of information or intelligence from us. Wisdom is usually hidden in obvious places. We’re just so wrapped up in what we think is true we never find out what we know is true.
I call this “uncommon sense.”
In financial matters, we find the same type of strangely-hidden wisdom. But, there are plenty of bloggers out there who have made it their mission to reveal Uncommon Wealth Sense. In this edition of Weekly Wisdom, we’ve found that subtle, sometimes counter intuitive wisdom about money matters, wealth building, and personal development.

What’s the one thing that most millionaires and billionaires have in common? (Besides a lot of money.)
They get up early.
That’s what Michael Masterson of Early to Rise says in his book Automatic Wealth. Masterson said he worked for years as a late-to-work, late-to-bed type of worker and said he didn’t get very far. He put in the same amount of time working on projects as his early rising friends, but they seemed to out-pace him in success.
Then he decided to wake up 60 minutes earlier each day.
The results were amazing. He got more work done–and believe it or not–people seemed to begin to recognize him as an achiever because he worked earlier. (It must be a relic of the old farm work ethic past.)
“There is something about getting in earlier that seems wiser, nobler, smarter, or just plain more industrious than working late.”
Oddly, Masterson said, as he climbed the ladder of success, that he noticed most of the high-success types were early risers. (Probably one reason he named his web site “Early to Rise.”
So how can you try this out for yourself and what could you expect from the new habit?

Financial freedom is not about money.
OK. It is about money, but it’s about a lot more than just money; financial freedom is about how you view life.
According to experts on psychology and even some quantum physicists, there’s a tool available to all that can improve our ability to actualize financial freedom.
It’s called “visualization” and it means that the way you see things inside your mind, eventually translates to real world results. Some people say even that model isn’t quite what’s happening. They say that consciousness–your mind with a big, capital, bold M–is the real world and that the world of appearances is just a shadow.
This may get a little too metaphysical for you, but hang with me because I’ll try to keep it real. Even if you don’t believe the whole mind-over-matter mumbo jumbo, there’s still real, scientific benefits of creating a visualization practice.
Sports psychologists practice it. Traders have used it. Actors and actresses make it part of their daily routine.
Now, we’re going to take it to the next level.

It looks like Bernie Madoff will spend the rest of his life in prison. That was after stealing $50 billion of investor’s money. Did you know that there is a Ponzi scheme that is 200 times bigger than Madoff’s? It’s called Social Security.
Social Security currently has liabililites of $10 trillion. Many people think that there is a certain amount of money set aside to pay back this massive debt. Guess what. There isn’t. The government already spent the money. Just like Bernie Madoff.

This point of this post is not to be critical of the government. America is the best country in the world, and has perhaps the best government system. But the day of reconing is soon upon us; the govenment has borrowed more money than it can pay back. And people counting on Social Security are likely to be left holding the (empty) bag.

90% of Financial Success Is Psychology
Have you ever looked at the list of the world’s wealthiest people? It seems that each person found a different way to get rich. Some people, like Bill Gates, did it by building a software business. Others did it through investing. Warren Buffett is a great example. Still others did it in different ways.
So that begs an interesting question. If there’s so many different ways of getting rich, what do they all have in common? The answer is, a certain way of thinking.

90% of financial success is determined by how you think. The remaining 10% is the specific strategies people use to get rich. Most people love to focus on strategy. They talk about who to hire, how to do marketing, or which properties are best to buy. But all of these strategies will only work if they are built on a certain mindset. And this mindset is the psychology of financial success.
