Last week, I sent a quick New Year’s note to three of my favorite authors, Tim Sanders (Love is the Killer App
), Dan Pink (Johnny Bunko
), and Leonard Mlodinow (The Drunkard’s Walk
). And guess what? Within an hour, all three had responded. How awesome is that!
So, that really got me thinking. The Internet has made two way communication not only possible but fast. In the olden days, people would send letters by mail written by hand or computer. I think the vast majority of authors did not have the time or energy to respond to nearly all of this mail.
But times have changed. Now it is quick, easy and free. So authors can quickly and easily have two way communication with their audience.

Trading has always been either a lone-wolf endeavor, or a competitive group smash-up that looks like a rugby scrum.
The typical image of the daytrader is a guy or gal who sits at a messy desk stacked with pages of charts and graphs and who continually sips on highly caffeinated drinks. The daytrader stares at a screen and every few seconds clicks on the mouse, tallying another winning trade.
Another image is the trader in the pit. Juiced up on coffee and pepto-bismol, the pit trader screams and flashes what look like gang symbols all day to make and lose money.
None of these stereotypes are very inspirational for people considering stock trading as a viable wealth generator. But, thanks to the Internet and the continual acceleration of technology, there’s a new way to look at trading: communal, cooperative, and collaborative. Social networks for stock traders are growing.
Here are nine of the most popular stock trading social networks and social bookmarking sites that have investors and traders in mind. (And please let me know if I missed any! Add them to the comment section.)

Recently there has been so much talk about Twitter. And Facebook. Before that it was YouTube. The rates of adoption are greater than anything mankind (and womankind) has seen before. It got me thinking.

If this is the web 2.0, perhaps it took a few years to mature. Let’s say 3 years. So it started in 2006. That means web 1.0 which really got started in 1995, was 11 years old in 2006. So web 2.0 is happening perhaps 2 -4 times faster than 1.0. I don’t know how much longer 2.0 will last, but 3.0 is on the horizon.
